No. Never. SPAM and unsolicited marketing are pet peeves of the owners of Custom Visuals. We treat our client's contact information with the same privacy and respect we treat our own contact information.
Yes. We routinely process a variety of formats, including Bloomberg Per Security and Back Office files to Excel. Bloomberg has several formats that we've worked with over the years. If you have a large batch you'd like converted or wish to have data converted on a regular basis, let us know. We can also retrieve the data from Bloomberg for you, process it, and deliver both the original and reformatted data to you.
Yes. Please drop by our Contact page and either send us an email through the form or give us a call at the phone number at the top of that page and we'll contact you right away.
CSV, Excel, TSV (Tab Separated Values), PSV (Pipe Separated Values), Bloomberg Back Office and Per Security, HTML, XML, GRIB2, for starters. If you don't see your format listed, just ask. We can very likely process it with little effort. If you have something custom or proprietary, pass along the format specification and we'll discuss it with you.

Yes. Custom Visuals began as a remote sensing and image processing company under a different name. We've worked with a variety of satellite and airborne systems, and a number of custom formats over the years.
Yes. We provide KML and KMZ files as an enhanced format for geolocated data sets.
Yes. We have NOAA GFS weather data archived from 01/01/2011. We also have Russell 3000 pricing data and NYISO energy data starting on 01/01/2013.
For archive data, we normally process the data from our office, where our outgoing internet connection is limited compared to our colocated server connections. it depends on the final amount of compressed data to be delivered. Our general preference follows:
- Internet: compressed data < 4 GB
- USB thumb drive: compressed data > 4 GB and < 32 GB
- SATA hard drive: compressed data > 32 GB
We use a NewerTech Voyager as shown in the photo to the right for quickly and easily copying data to client drives.
We don't charge an additional amount for thumb or hard drives or want them returned. Thumb drives are less than $1 per GB and hard drives are less than $100 per TB at the time of this writing (January, 2013). We prefer our clients keep the drive as a backup.
Though we reserve the right to choose a drive manufacturer, we normally use SanDisk for thumb drives and Hitachi, Western Digital or Seagate for hard drives.
Our turnaround time mainly depends on the amount of data being processed and delays among vendor, client and our colocation networks. For some data, such as NYISO RT Zonal data which is typically under 1 KB, the turnaround time is a few seconds. For NOAA GFS data, which are 50+ MB , turnaround time can be much longer. Note that we do use techniques to extract NOAA GFS data in much smaller subsets, so this can be reduced to a few seconds depending on the client's specific requirements.
Our NOAA GFS data set covers the globe in 0.5 degree increments. You can request any location, region or the entire globe.
If you'd like us to process a data set, please use our Contact page to let us know what you'd like. There is a phone number on the page if its easier to communicate your needs to us via phone.
Our main weather data source is NOAA's Global Forecast System (GFS).
Our main energy data source is New York ISO (NYISO).
Our main financial data source is Yahoo! Finance.
There is no need to distinguish between Archive and Live data on the order form. Set the dates accordingly and we'll deliver. You can specify something other than the default Media that the data is delivered on by selecting the Media menu item for Archive data.
